2022 Fall Conference Sessions

The 38th Annual Directors’ Forum Fundamentals of Good Governance” conference taking place at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale this October 27 – 29, 2022, will tackle a variety of topics focused on strengthening the board’s effectiveness in strategy and oversight for credit unions, mutuals and co-operatives alike.

The Board has planned another great series of sessions this year, catered to the specific needs and roles of the Director, including:
  • CEO Compensation and Contracts, and Director Compensation (Board Chairs/Vice-Chairs session)
  • National Update with CCUA
  • Embrace Modernization or Face Irrelevance: The Directors’ Role
  • Cases in Strategy (1/2-day CUDA® CE credit course)
  • Board and CEO Relationships
  • Building Co-operative Culture
  • Highlights and Insights with Alisdair Smith

Beat the Early Bird Deadline and Save!

There’s still a few weeks left to register and save! August 14 is the deadline to take advantage of the Early Bird rate and get $100 off the registration fee per delegate – a considerable savings, especially if multiple directors are attending from your organization!

Directors will have the option of attending in person or virtually. The virtual offering is contingent on us reaching enough participants to make it financially feasible, and registrants will be notified at least three (3) weeks prior to the event if the virtual option needs to be cancelled and provided the option to switch to the in-person event or to receive a refund. Click here to view the registration fees and details.

Book Your Accommodations Now and Save!

The DFC has reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $175+ HST per standard room night for its guests. This rate will only be available until the room block is full, or by the October 4 deadline (whichever comes first). It’s never too early to book your accommodations, as you can always cancel them if plans change!

You can book by calling the reservation desk at: 1-905-821-1981 (make sure to tell them you are with the "Directors' Forum" and quote SRP code DTOR22), or you can also book directly online.

Young Directors Bursary

If you or a Director (or intern director) on your Board is thirty-nine and under, you may be eligible to attend the entire conference free of charge!

The Bursary was established by the Directors Forum to assist young Board Directors with their professional development and governance training. The conference is a great opportunity to network and engage with system leaders from across Ontario and to meet potential mentors to help them through their governance journey.  

The Bursary covers the cost of conference registration, including all meals and activities that take place during the conference. It does not cover the cost of transportation to and from the conference venue, accommodations, or the evening meals (which are not part of the conference). 

This year, the DFC is giving away three bursaries on a first come, first serve basis. So visit us online by going to the “Awards and Bursaries” section in the dropdown menu of our Main site, to see if you are eligible and apply today!

Long-Term Service Awards

One of our long-standing traditions is to recognize Directors who have demonstrated their commitment to the credit union system. The Long-Term Service Awards are presented each year at the conference, as a way to pay tribute to individuals for their many years of volunteer service to one or more Ontario credit union and/or caisse populaire.  

This year, the awards will be presented in-person, during the Welcome Cocktail Reception on Thursday, October 27th. Recipients must be in attendance to receive their plaques.
