Virtual Governance Series Set to Launch
The 2020 Directors’ Forum has gone virtual! Starting this month, we will be launching the first in an eight-part series of governance sessions that are designed for credit union and caisses populaires Directors, by system Directors.
In response to the successful Director Discussions we hosted throughout June, and in light of having to postpone the in-person conference this fall, the series is being designed to keep system Directors engaged, connected and educated about important topics that are relevant to their unique roles as Directors, and facing the system at this time.
Based on the central theme of Adapting to Meet System Needs, participants will learn about and discuss topics such as: “Adapting to System Challenges and Opportunities,” “Mining the Co-op Advantage,” and “Mutuals and Credit Unions: Opportunities for Collaboration,” to name a few.
Most of the sessions will be facilitated by members of the Executive Committee, and our partners at CCUA/Cusource. They will take on a variety of formats including interactive presentations and panel discussions, and will be about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes in length.
In partnership with CCUA/Cusource, we will be providing all our participants with a document after each session, highlighting the key learnings, takeaways and questions to take back to your Board, as assembled by Alisdair Smith. Alisdair will also facilitate one of our final sessions next May, sharing his insights on the governance series, and highlighting the key points and takeaways from each session in his unique and engaging way. We are thrilled to have him with us again!
The first virtual session takes place on September 28, 2020 and will help credit union Directors enhance their understanding of how they can champion and foster inclusion and diversity within and beyond the boardroom.
The second virtual session takes place on October 16, 2020 (the original date of the DF Annual General Meeting and conference). It will include an update from Executive Chair, Anthony Piscitelli, as well as a moderated panel discussion with representatives from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), the Canadian Credit Union Association and Central 1 Credit Union, who will share how their organizations are adapting to meet system needs, and suggest what Directors should be doing to adapt as well.
The Executive Committee is very pleased to be able to offer this series FREE OF CHARGE to all Ontario system Directors, thanks to the generosity and support of the twelve organizations who are sponsoring the series this year. Please take a moment to learn who they are by visiting our Sponsorship Recognition page online.
Registration is now open for the first two sessions in the series! You will be required to register for each session individually. Click the button below to learn more about what we have planned, and to register!
