2018-19 ASB Calendar PDF

2019-20 Calendar (DRAFT)
May 1, 2019
Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,
Happy May Day!  What a beautiful way to start the month and return from spring break. I hope each of you enjoyed a blessed and peaceful week with family and friends.  As we continue the Easter season and celebrate the resurrection and new life of Jesus, I wish hope and joy for each of you however you may need it.  Spring is a perfect time to feel refreshed and renewed.
Speaking of hope and joy, we want to wish huge congratulations to first grade teacher, Tina Brousseau.  Tina and her husband, Ian, are expecting their first baby this fall!  Tina will begin the year with us, but obviously take some time to spend with the new addition to their family.  I will let incoming first grade families know the long-term substitute plan soon.
I am also excited to let you know that I will continue teaching 8th grade homeroom and English-Language Arts next year.  It has been such a blessing teaching the current 8th graders these past few months and am looking forward to continuing next year.  As a principal, the opportunity to teach definitely keeps me grounded in our true purpose as a school.  We have an amazing team of teachers here and having the opportunity to work alongside them is a gift.
Congratulations to our 4th grade students!  Their annual Kards for Kids fundraiser not only produced beautiful artwork, it resulted in over $1200 raised for our sister parish in Namitembo.  Way to go!
Spring MAP testing begins this week.  I would highly encourage you to watch this video regarding standardized testing in schools. Remember that MAP is one snapshot of student growth, not an indication of intelligence or a summative assessment of their year.  Please pay close attention to the testing schedules that have been sent by homeroom teachers and have students at school on time, well rested, and fed with a healthy breakfast.
You may have noticed new signs along 33rd to indicate legal parking distance from intersections.  Please adhere to the signs.  In the three days we’ve been back, I have received an email each day from neighbors with pictures of cars parked illegally.  I know you are tired of hearing me talk about parking and traffic – trust me, I am tired of saying it.  Unfortunately, until we comply with traffic and parking procedures, this reminder will continue to be given.

A quick calendar item - please note that our 8th Grade Graduation Mass & Ceremony will be in the Assumption Gym on June 5th at 7:00 PM.
Good article for the week:
Enjoy this amazing weather!
