2019-20 Calendar
June 12, 2019

Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,

Happy last week of school! It is hard to believe that the end is here, it has been such a tremendous year.  I am so grateful to each member of our staff, each student, each family, and each community member who has supported our wonderful school this year.  We cannot do what we do without you!

Endings always bring new beginnings. As this year ends, construction finally begins! We have our permit and are looking forward to our groundbreaking celebration tonight at 6:00 PM.  Please join us to celebrate this important moment for ASB.  You also get Dick’s burgers, beer, wine, and good fellowship!  We will update you on progress throughout the summer and are so excited to see this project take shape.

Tomorrow is Field Day. Thank you to our 7th graders for hosting this morning full of fun and games.  Make sure your child is in appropriate free dress for being outside and lather on the sunscreen. Tomorrow is a noon dismissal, and Extended Care is available.

On Friday, we will gather in the church at 10:45 to celebrate our last mass of the year, led by our 2nd graders. We would love for you to join us in prayer and celebration.

Last article for the year – a great one to read as we celebrate our children’s successful end to another school year.
Thank you to each of you.  May you have a restful, fun, and blessed summer with those you love.  See you soon!

Best,
Kathleen Conklin

Camp ASB at St. Bridget Parish!

Due to the beginning of the construction project at ASB School, Camp ASB will be off campus for the first week of Summer.  June 17-21, Camp ASB will be operating out of St. Bridget Parish.  We are incredibly lucky to have this as an option for our campers and we are very excited about the possibilities that we may have at this location, specifically Laurelhurst Park. A couple of notes on next week, while Camp ASB is at St. Bridget:
  • Camp ASB Hours will be the same, 8:00 am to 5:45 pm.
  • Camp ASB will be using the North door of St. Bridget to enter the facility.
  • Children will need to be walked into St. Bridget, using the North door, and signed into Camp ASB
  • Camp ASB will be using Laurelhurst park a great deal during this week.  If camp is not onsite at St. Bridget, there will always be a staff member onsite to direct parents to the correct pick up location.
  • MOHAI field trip on Friday is still happening.  When Camp ASB is offsite for a field trip, there is no onsite childcare available.

The Camp ASB Summer Calendar is now available.  You can find the calendar on the ASB School website and it is included in this newsletter. Registrations and prepayments for Camp ASB, including registration for the Camp ASB Field Trips, are now being accepted. Some field trips have a limited number of space and it is important for those families that want their children to attend, or need their children to attend Camp ASB on those days, are free to secure their spots. This can be done by contacting me or indicating your needs on the Camp ASB Registration Forms.

Camp ASB Forms: Extended Care reminders:
  • There is Extended Care available on Thursday, June 13, at 12 noon, when school is dismissed.
  • There is NO PM EXTENDED CARE Friday, June 14 when school is dismissed at 12 noon.
  • Camp ASB registration forms, KinderCamp registration forms and Camp ASB calendar are now available.  Please go to the Extended Care page on the ASB Website, to get more information.
  • If you have any questions about Camp ASB, please do not hesitate to contact Dylan Pouley or Kai Bond we are happy to assist you in whatever way that we can.

June Student Awards!

Don't throw out your USED school supplies!
Please donate them to a school in Namibia instead!

SLT is supporting the Smith Family to collect USED school supplies for Onayena Primary School in Onayena, Namibia.  Please donate your USED pencils (non-mechanical), blue & black pens, rulers, crayons, hand-held pencil sharpeners, early reader books and small dictionaries. Space is limited for transporting the items to Africa, so we are focusing on small, light items needed by the students.
ASB Alum Abby Lane is a teacher in Onayena, and needs these items for her more than 200 students in grades 4-7.
Please put donations in the bin in the front hall, now through the last day of school, Friday June 14! The items will be delivered to Namibia this August. Thank you Laura, Chad, Shale & Piper Smith for connecting us to this very worthy cause.
