Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of ASB School,

In the true Lenten spirit of helping others, our front hall was once again overflowing with donations for St. Vincent de Paul on Monday.  Our monthly free dress food drives have made an enormous difference and I thank you for your continued generosity!

Another highlight to start our week was attending the preview of our upcoming musical, Hello, Dolly!  On Monday we gathered in the gym to watch our middle school students dazzle us with their singing, dancing, and acting.  They were absolutely fantastic and I hope each of you will join us next week to see the full show.  This year, the performances are just down the road at Nathan Hale High School, so it’s nice and close!  See below in the newsletter for the link to purchase tickets and we look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you to everyone who attended State of the School last week.  It is important to take time every now and then to celebrate our successes as well as look towards the future of ASB.  If you did not attend, please contact me immediately to set up an appointment and receive your registration materials for the coming year.

Your quarterly volunteer tracking form is coming home today in your Wednesday envelope.  Please be sure to fill it out and send it back.  As I mentioned at State of the School, every family agrees to 35 volunteer hours as a part of the registration contract.  We want to be sure we get everybody’s hard work recorded and recognized!

We are just over a week away from our Walk-a-thon.  Keep those donations rolling by emailing family and friends. Remember, if we hit our goal of $50,000, I have agreed to be in a dunk tank and let five lucky families do their best to dunk me.  The top classes and students also win fabulous prizes.  Check out more information below.

One more calendar item - save the date for our 2019 auction!  Saturday, November 23rd is the 40th ASB auction.  Join us to Cheers to 40 Years!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and relaxing weekend.

Best,
Kathleen Conklin

Camp ASB 2019 Registration and Summer Calendar is now available!

The Camp ASB Summer Calendar is now available.  You can find the calendar on the ASB School website and it is included in this newsletter. Registrations and prepayments for Camp ASB, including registration for the Camp ASB Field Trips, are now being accepted. Some field trips have a limited number of space and it is important for those families that want their children to attend, or need their children to attend Camp ASB on those days, are free to secure their spots. This can be done by contacting me or indicating your needs on the Camp ASB Registration Forms.

I am very excited to announce that this summer Annie Hawksford, Lexi Dijulio and Emily O'Hare three of the four kindergarten teachers at ASB, will be running KinderCamp.  It will be an amazing opportunity for our incoming kindergarten students to attend KinderCamp that is being taught by the current kindergarten teachers.

Thank you to Annie Hawksford, Lexi Dijulio and Emily O'Hare

This summer will be an amazing opportunity for our incoming kindergarten students to attend KinderCamp, taught by the current kindergarten teachers.  I would encourage all incoming Kindergarten families to consider registering for one or more of these sessions. Kinder Camp is a great opportunity for your incoming Kindergartner to get familiar with his or her classmates, the structure and style of ASB School and the actual facilities (playgrounds, bathrooms, classrooms).  The registration forms for Kinder Camp are located on the ASB School web-page under the Extended Care link and they are also included in this newsletter.

Similar to last year, KinderCamp will be held Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Session one will take place the first week of Camp ASB, June 17-21.
  • Session two will be held the week after Camp ASB ends, August 5-9. Camp ASB will not be available prior to, or after, KinderCamp during session #2.  Parents will need to arrange for their campers to be dropped off and picked up at the start and end of KinderCamp session #2.

Electronic Devices at Camp ASB

  1. Electronic devices (tablets, phone, portable video game systems) are allowed at Camp ASB (summer only) during designated free choice times.
  2. All content accessed on the device must be school appropriate.  (G or PG, 4+ or 9+, etc.)
  3. Students WILL NOT be allowed access to the school WiFi.
  4. Students that choose to bring a device, will be allowed to use it by themselves.  This is not a group activity, and other students will not be allowed to look on, watch, or participate with any device, other than their own.
  5. The approved hours that devices may be used, are from 8-10 am, as students arrive in the morning, and 5-5:45 pm as students are getting picked up in the afternoon.
  6. We have removed Wii Wednesday, from the Camp ASB calendar.  We still may use the Wii or the Kinect at times during the summer, but it will not be a regularly scheduled event.
  7. Camp ASB is willing to work with individual families and will try to respect each family's rules about screen time.
