1. Quality Payments Update 2017/18
The LPC office has put together the Pharmacy Quality Payments 2017 guidance document following the publication of the NHS England guidance on 27 February 2017 to help support you in meeting your pharmacy quality payments for the first review point due on 28 April 2017 covering the following areas.
1. How to claim?
2. Gateway Criteria
3. Quality Criteria
Pharmacies are strongly encouraged to pull together a quality payments evidence folder that is readily accessible in the pharmacy should they be requested to provide evidence of meeting quality payments in the future by NHS England.
Please note that if you are part of a group of pharmacies before working through the attached document you should check with your head office about implementation to meet the quality payments to ensure you are adhering to their processes as they may be undertaking some of the work centrally on your behalf.
Each pharmacy is strongly encouraged to read both of the below NHS England guidance documents to ensure they are fully briefed on the Quality Payments Scheme:
1. NHS England – Pharmacy Quality Payments Quality Criteria Guidance (published 27th February 2017)
2. NHS England – Pharmacy Quality Payments Gateway Criteria Guidance (published 23rd December 2016)
Pharmacies are also strongly encouraged to visit PSNC’s excellent hub webpage that has a wealth of information and supportive materials: http://psnc.org.uk/services-commissioning/essential-services/quality-payments/.
Please note that this LPC guide only contains the key notes and headlines from the NHS England and PSNC guidance in relation to quality payments in what we hope is a more digestible format. The LPC cannot accept any responsibility should a pharmacy not familiarise itself with the NHS England guidance as a minimum. Please note that this guide contains no information about the second review period on 24 November 2017 of which we will publish a quick guide at a later date.
2. No Smoking Day 9 March 2017
The media and press release from Hertfordshire County Council for No Smoking Day on Wednesday 8 March 2017 is available on LPC website.
Please use this opportunity to promote the campaign within your pharmacies and to client groups.
There has been a change in the resources available for the campaign this year but would encourage you to promote Hertfordshire Stop Smoking Service (HSSS) for anyone willing to stop smoking and the benefits of e-cigarettes as an effective way to help people give up smoking tobacco.
All HSSS resources are available on request by calling 01442 453071.
3. URGENT DEADLINE APPROACHING Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) Pharmacy Questionnaire
Hertfordshire LPC would be extremely grateful if you would take a few minutes to complete the nationally suggested template by PSNC that will gather information on the services offered by pharmacies to inform discussions on PNA development with the Hertfordshire Health and Wellbeing Board. The information in the questionnaire you provide is confidential. Please be honest with your answers so that areas can be accurately assessed where pharmacies are already performing well and areas that need improvement. The questionnaire has been developed by a steering group, led by Hertfordshire County Council and includes representation from the LPC, LMC members, the council and the public.
You can complete the questionnaire on line here:
If you would like to complete the questionnaire in paper format, please do so using either the copy available here or sent to you recently in the post and return it to Darren Hagen – Soar Beyond, 1 Marchmont Gate, Maxted Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7BE. Soar Beyond are supporting Herts County Council develop a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment for 2018.
Closing date for this questionnaire is Friday 10 March 2017.
We recognise that this is an incredibly busy period for you however the LPC would be really grateful and strongly encourage you to take the time to complete the questionnaire as it helps to make a more robust and valuable PNA. To support you the LPC will be posting a hard copy of the questionnaire to every pharmacy and will also be making available copies at upcoming LPC events to encourage completion.
Please remember that as part of this process, the public’s views are also being sought on services and provision from community pharmacies and dispensing practices in Hertfordshire. An online survey has been developed (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Herts_Public) which has been circulated to public groups and places. Please do also continue to promote this survey to the public.
We hope that you have a good weekend from all the LPC office.
