1.    URGENT REMINDER NHSMail Deadline   1 February 2017

For a pharmacy to become eligible for any payment under the Quality Payments Scheme it must first meet four “Gateway” criteria, one of which will be that pharmacy staff at the pharmacy must be able to send and receive data via NHS mail. The first review date for the scheme will be 28 April 2017 and for this review, evidence that the pharmacy has applied for an NHS mail account by 1 February 2017 will be acceptable. If you do not meet this criteria then you will be ineligible for any quality payments at the review point on 28 April 2017.

To apply for an NHS mail account in order to meet the Quality Payments Scheme NHS mail gateway criterion, pharmacies should email nhspharmacy.registration@nhs.net with the following information before 1 February 2017:

  •          Trading Name of Pharmacy
  •          Owner’s Name
  •          Address (for the premises the NHSmail will apply to)
  •          Postcode
  •          Pharmacy ODS code
  •          Pharmacy Telephone Number
  •          Current Pharmacy Email Address

If you are working for a multiple company please check with your head office before individually applying as they may be applying on your behalf.

2.    Wound Care Products Formulary 2016

All pharmacists should be aware that the third Hertfordshire wide wound products formulary was published late in 2016.

This formulary was developed to assist any healthcare professional prescribing or requesting dressings for wound management in Hertfordshire. It aims to aid the decision making process and help choose the most appropriate product whilst ensuring value for money in the use of NHS resources.

5.    Summary Care Record Support Events

The LPC has commissioned CPPE Summary Care Record Support events to help pharmacies meet the quality payments scheme on the dates below:
  • Monday, 27 February, 2017 7.30pm to 9.30pm Watford Mercure,      A41 Bypass, Watford, Herts, WD25 8JH
  • Monday, 13 March, 2017 2pm to 4pm The Fairway Tavern, Old Hearns Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 2ED
  • Monday, 13 March, 2017 7.30pm to 9.30pm The Fairway Tavern, Old Hearns Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 2ED
This programme aims to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence in using the Summary Care Record (SCR) routinely in your practice, and maximise the opportunities it presents to improve clinical outcomes for patients.

To achieve the quality payments points worth a minimum value of £640, on the day of the first review (28 April 2017), the pharmacy can demonstrate a total increase in access to Summary Care Records between 1 December 2016 and 28 April 2017 in comparison to the previous 5 months; and on the day of the second review (24 November 2017), the pharmacy can demonstrate a total increase to access to Summary Care Records between 1 May and 24 November 2017 in comparison to the previous 7 months.

Please note this workshop will not give you access to the SCR application; it is about making more use of it once you have access.
