Helping Those in Need

Over 35 people have signed up to help with the Kol Shofar coronavirus response volunteer group! The efforts started off this week with phone calls to Kol Shofar households with members 65+. The goals have been to foster community connection in this time of uncertainty, and to check in if members are facing any pressing needs. Based on responses coming in so far, we are hearing strong appreciation for the outreach effort, and the reassuring news that many members are finding ways to adapt to the current situation and have their needs met. We plan to continue to expand efforts to foster one-on-one connections, sustain those we have already built, and find ways to channel the giving spirits of all who have reached out to us looking for ways to help the community at this time. We are truly blessed to be in a community where so many seek to help others in this uncertainty; if you are interested in joining phone banking or other future volunteer efforts, please click here to show your interest by filling out this form.  You may contact Julia Daniel at

Donate to Jewish Family Children Service (JFCS) Food Banks

Help meet the increasing needs of seniors and families.

As Shelter In Place continues, our community faces an unprecedented need for food donations and deliveries. Help JFCS keep our Food Banks full throughout the Bay Area and ensure we have essential supplies for all those in need.

Simple steps for helping right now include:

  1. Order online via Amazon or Instacart and send to your local JFCS office, c/o JFCS Food Bank. Find your nearest location here
  2. Purchase grocery store gift cards. You can easily purchase these on Amazon and email them to, who will then print them and give directly to low-income clients or have volunteers use for shopping for clients.
  3. Volunteer as a Food Runner—JFCS is looking for a small group of adult volunteers willing to deliver items from our food bank directly to clients’ homes. Please contact Jennifer Tripathy directly at if you can do this.

Any of these options are greatly appreciated at this critical time. We are all in this together and we are so grateful for your continued support!

This musical service is a pre-recorded video on YouTube (not a livestream), with no participants present (no minyan, therefore various prayers have been left out intentionally).  Please enjoy what speaks to you.
