Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

August 19 is coming!

At long last, the classrooms are ready and we are re-opening our doors for a great 2020-21 school year. Students are asked to wear Heritage uniforms but chapel wear is not required. Please be sure to read the COVID Protocols we sent in an email (or locate it on the COVID-19 button on our website). We have extended the day for all levels to ensure ample personal hand washing as well as participation in basic classroom sanitizing. Our restrooms will be cleaned several times daily; common areas will also receive extra cleaning. Students in upper school will also be sure lockers are wiped down.
Because of local COVID regulations, we will NOT have our traditional Back-to-School Night on Monday.

However, we look forward to our first volleyball game, Sept 10. (facemasks, distancing in MPAC will follow COVID guidelines) and …
SAVE THE DATE for SPIRIT WEEK and FLIGHT NIGHT: Sept 25, when we will play football vs. Leakey and have a Fall Family Tailgate! Details TBA!

When Heritage School gained a new Athletic Director, David Borrer, we discovered his wife’s multiple talents.  Coach Borrer said of joining Heritage: “Throughout the San Antonio and the Hill country area, Heritage has long been the standard for excellence in education and athletics among small private schools.”  Maritza commented similarly: “I am happy to be a part of a school that sees each child as more than just a face in a classroom or a grade on a test; Heritage’s faculty and staff provide a Christ-centered learning environment that focuses on developing and nurturing the mind, body, and soul of every student.” Mrs. Borrer is now our new Admissions Director and part of the Advancement team (in charge of Development, Marketing, and Admissions).  Assuming this area of responsibility will allow Mrs. Sauer to focus her time and talents on the job of Registrar, College Guidance Counselor, and Renweb administrator.   Mrs. Borrer comes to Heritage with much experience in teaching.  A graduate of Princeton University (BA in English, French) and her MA in Teaching (Differentiated Instruction), Mrs. Borrer has taught high school English, high school math. An active woman, she has also coached track and will do so for Heritage this year.  She has also agreed to be our new Cheer sponsor.
Mrs. Varwig, our beloved and sweet first grade teacher, resigned this summer to take a new job teaching reading in Comfort ISD.  We will miss her gentleness and smile, but we are excited to announce that Rebecca Spraggins Williams will assume the role.   Rebecca was one of the original 29 students at Heritage Family School back in 1994, and was the MC of our very first Shakespeare Festival!  Among other roles, Rebecca was the Children’s Ministries Director at Hill Country Church for several years.  Her husband, Trent, a former Young Life director and an EMS first responder is studying nursing. All four of their children will be attending Heritage this year: Georgia (K), Silas (3rd grade), as well as Gabriel (7th grade) and Kaleb (8th grade) who joined us last year.  Rebecca said, “I’m happy not only to be with my first graders, but to be able to foster a desire and excitement for lifelong learning, all with the love of Christ.”  We are excited to have Rebecca as part of our Heritage faculty and to welcome her family, along with the Borrers into our Heritage Family!
On August 13, NEW families were welcomed to the Heritage family in a small gathering on the patio.  After dessert and fellowship, the children played on the playground, supervised by some of our older students while the Shepherding families shared with the group interesting information about our new families.  Mrs. Hierholzer gave a brief orientation and packets of information were sent home.  WELCOME!!

Heritage junior Faith Lindner was in Mr. Straus's production of Into the Woods, Esteban Garza was in the FTC production of Harvey.
The entire Music family (Alicia, John, Hannah, Joey) were in Mr. Straus's production of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and the Welder girls and dad (Clark, Lilly, Lindsay, Alice) were in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Massachussetts in early August.
