Grammar School

Fifth grade student Keely Schumann and mom Ms. Dee presented a new service project to grammar school students at chapel, playing a video and taking questions in support of their cause. Samaritan Purse takes in gifts from donors, in the form of shoeboxes, full of essential items like toothpaste and fun items like toys. They then send these items, along with messages of encouragement and discipleship, to parts of the world in need. Grammar school students were excited about the project - one class even asked for twenty shoeboxes to fill! Keely presented information to the upper school Friday afternoon, inviting them to all participate.
Fifth graders gave a Latin lesson in song form to grammar school students.

Upper School

The music elective class led worship for upper school chapel. Jason Banks shared a very in-depth message about the Holy Spirit, stressing the truth that the Holy Spirit is a very real part of the Triune God. Because the Holy Spirit can be present and everywhere at all times, He is able to lead, enlighten, encourage, and support us.

Upper Classmen Participate in
HC Fire Starter Bible Reading Marathon

Heritage upper school students and faculty volunteered at the Hill Country Fire Starter Bible Reading Marathon this past weekend, reading aloud large segments of Scripture publicly.

From Jim McKnight, Coordinator, HC Fire Starter Bible Reading Marathon:
Great job by your young people.  We noticed a high level of reading proficiency with the readers.  After all these hours over two years of us listening to others we give your students a 9 to 10 on a scale of 10 if we were rating them.  Other groups - we would give a 5 to 8, a rating we would include for us, the Fire Starter team members.
We are glad that your representative, Bill Eggleston, attended the opening... Thank you so much in your participation.  Your group almost got us through the Old Testament.

Scholarship Opportunity!

Congrats 2021 Seniors!

Second Grade's Foldable Folders

Second grade made foldable folders about Christopher Columbus discovering the Americas to celebrate Columbus Day.

Da Vinci House Donates
Nearly a Half-Ton

Da Vinci House brought in over 800 pounds of food for the third grade Hungerbusters Food Drive.

That's Some Heavy Stuff, Man

Upper classmen in Mrs. Pressler's class constructed cardboard chairs based on the designs outlined by senior physics students. Through fundamental properties of physics, the seniors hoped the chairs would be able to withstand a large weight. That weight came in the form of Coach Parsons, who took at least one tumble from the experiment!

Fifth Grade Mesopotamian Projects

Fifth grade wrapped up our Mesopotamia unit with homemade sundials, cuneiform in clay, and freshly baked Mesopotamian bread.

Senior Political Debates

Heritage seniors entered the debate stage on Wednesday to vigorously discuss topics like the COVID-19 crisis, universal basic income, policing in America, and others. The Conservative, Communist, and Progressive parties all made their cases for why their platforms were best. The presentation also included video interviews and political ads created by the students. Fellow upper school students voted based upon the strength of the arguments presented, not preexisting beliefs about any particular party. At the end of the vote tallying, the Conservative party won, beating out the second place Communist party, and the third place Progressives. Great job by all of our seniors, who displayed incredible oratorical ability. Also, thank you to our secret service staff of Aidan Hickey, John Fritzsch, and Jack Henderson for ensuring the safety of our controversial candidates. Coach’s Comments: “This was another solid win for the Eagles. Once again, we were outmanned (NBCA had 23 boys to our 12) but not out-worked. I was satisfied with the effort in all 3 phases of the game – offense, defense, and special teams.

Offensively, we were led by Bridger Welch, who had another fantastic game, and Will Warner. Will has made huge strides for us the past few weeks and is turning into a real weapon for us. Drake McKinney played with a ton of composure this week and did a great job of keeping the offense on point.

Defensively, we had a strong week in practice and the boys' hard work paid big dividends on Thursday night. NBCA was a pass-first team that had a lot of explosive potential. Our defensive coaches were able to adjust our defense on the fly and the boys played with intensity. Mark Davis (Callsign : CHAOS) was all over the field and Justin Goodman and Will Warner played the best defense that I have seen them play this season. All in all, it was a good step forward for us."

Fredericksburg Heritage       51
TAPPS Div III District 4

Cedar Park Summit       48
TAPPS Div III District 4

Played at Cedar Park on Friday October 9th 7:30pm

On the game tonight vs Cedar Park
WOW!!!  This was an incredible football game. Both teams were playing at a championship caliber level. They were two heavy weights going after each other. Credit to Cedar Park and Coach Sturgell on having a great game plan and doing a great job of executing it. I am even more impressed with how our young men fought back after getting into an 11-point hole multiple times.

This game was a huge growing night for this team. To go to Cedar Park, take their best shot, and find a way to win in the 4th quarter says a whole about the resilience and determination of this team.

Our team began to grow and build chemistry like I haven't seen this year. There were light bulbs going off above every Heritage player's head. This was an "a-ha" game for many of our players. That is incredibly good moving forward. Each team, no matter the number of returners, is trying to find its identity and get synced. Tonight, we rounded a corner in terms of achieving that identity. I was extremely proud of the class that our guys played with in the midst of much adversity. I was pleased with how they supported one another as time and time again we could have given up. These guys left it all on the field and when the clock ran out, we had persisted and found a way to win at the last minute! We certainly have a lot of things we need to work on. Nonetheless, this is a sweet victory and one more step in the process of achieving our objectives.

On what this game means
There is a high possibility that we will see Cedar Park down the road. If both teams continue to take care of business this season, this could be the prequel to a playoff game.  We are 1-0 in district and have a lot of data to scour to get better.
