No matter how easy some people make life look from the outside (thanks Instagram), there is no such thing as perfect. Perfection is a myth, it's manufactured and it's make-believe. Yet sometimes it sneaks its way into our hopes and dreams, "if I just had more money/time/control..." But when we set our sights on whatever we don't have, we will inevitably be left wanting more.
One of my teachers, Nevine, reminds me that instead of chasing perfection we should put energy into refining our techniques and collecting useful tools. That way when the inevitable bumps in the road appear we'll be able to cope well, recover quickly and move away from pain and suffering towards a life of celebration and joy. So take stock of the tools and techniques at your disposal like the spaces that inspire you, the people who support you and the practices that uplift you. Chase that which is meaningful, authentic and nurturing and happiness will follow.
