As the holiday hustle kicks into high gear finding moments of stillness can be challenging, but these are the very moments that will help anchor us amidst the chaos. Cultivating the ability to soothe yourself is powerful. That way, regardless of the world around you (like the buttons only your family can push, your boss who expects you to work until the 24th, or your uncle who you're pretty sure voted for Trump...), you remain in control.
Let your breath serve as a reminder of the cyclical nature of all things. After winter comes spring, after darkness there will be light and every ounce of effort points to an opportunity for grace. So listen for the sound of your own breathing. Match each deep breath in with a full breath out and let it be a sacred expression of your stability, resiliency and strength. And remember - carving out a few moments for yourself isn't selfish, it's self care. Sitting quietly, practicing a few poses and focusing on your breath are simply tried and true techniques for finding joy.
