See you this evening?

Hello!  What a peculiar week it's been.  And a really hard week for some at CCC who have been unwell or are seeing a big reduction in income.  Others might be enjoying the change of pace, or being able to work from home without the commuting.  But it's a time of worry and anxiety for all of us because we don't know what's going to happen (even more than usual!)

We want to give regular space for us to connect as CCC, and to have opportunity to chat to others outside our own households.  So we're suggesting that we'll have regular times in the week to gather on Zoom, to chat and catch up, and to pray for and with each other.  We're suggesting these times:

  • Monday lunchtime, 12.30-1.30pm - bring your lunch!
  • Wednesday early morning, 6.30-7.30am - our usual Wednesday time
  • Thursday evening, 7.30-8.30 - time to catch up at the end of the day

So, we'll be online this evening (Thursday) from 7.30 - join us if you can, anytime up to 8.30.  You can click: https://zoom.us/j/5724430668; or start the Zoom app on any device, click 'Join', and use meeting ID: 572 443 0668.

I look forward to seeing you then, and read on below for news on...

  • Sunday morning - Tayn's dedication and The Armour of God
  • An update on Ashburnham

Something Amazing at The Point

I'm really pleased that CCC has been able to be part of a local initiative coordinated by Julie and a few others by making The Point available for use.  This started by collecting the food that was left in the local cafes which were having to close, and giving it out to NHS staff from Lewisham hospital.  They needed a space to operate from and The Point is in an ideal location!

As you can see from the picture, a wide range of food has now been donated, as is being gratefully received by NHS workers as they start and finish their shifts.  Thanks so much to Julie and David and others who are making this happen!  And it's great that The Point is being used so well, even though we can't run our usual activities there at the moment.

If you're able to help out by being at The Point for an hour or so at any time, that would be hugely appreciated - there's always something to do, with food donations to keep track of and store safely, and people to give it out to.  Contact Julie direct, if you have her details, or let me know and I'll put you in touch.

There's also a crowd funding page that has been created to support the project, if you're able to support in this way.

Or have a look at Lewisham Local to sign up to volunteer in the community as Maureen mentioned last Sunday morning - there are opportunities for befriending, deliveries and general support.

Zoom in again on Sunday!

Thanks for all the feedback after last Sunday morning's first big gathering on Zoom.  We'll be meeting again this Sunday at 10.30, and I hope that you'll be able to be there!

As part of the time this Sunday we've got Tayn Hiley's dedication - this is an opportunity for Ian & Emma to give thanks for Tayn's life and his part in their family, and for us as CCC to welcome him and agree to pray for & support the family as Tayn grows up.  Of course these things are already true, but it's good to mark it as a special occasion.

We're also continuing in Ephesians, thinking about The Armour of God described by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-20 (I'm not sure he anything like the picture above in mind!).  There will be something for everyone to join in with to help us hear from God together from this amazing letter.

See you then!

CCC Weekend at Ashburnham - now 15-17 January 2021

You won't be surprised that we've had to postpone our CCC weekend away planned for the end of April.

We've been in touch with Ashburnham and have re-arranged our booking for 15-17 January 2021.  It seems a long way off, but we hope that life will be more normal before then.  Please mark the date in your diary!

We've transferred your existing booking to the new date, and we'll be checking details with you in the autumn.  If there's any difficulty for you now in relation to this, please let me or Kim know.

It's disappointing to have to change this, but I hope it's something we can be excited to look forward to in the new year!
