Hope does not disappoint us...
...because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
This Sunday it's the start of December, and the start of Advent, when we join Christians around the world in looking forward to the coming of Christ, both at Christmas and when he comes again. Our themes over the next few weeks are traditional Advent themes of Peace, Joy, Faith and starting this Sunday with Hope.
We've considered the character and actions of God over the last couple of months, and I hope that this helps us to dig a bit deeper into what God is promising in Advent. In Romans 5, Paul tells us that our faith in Jesus brings us peace with God, and that living with God through the ups and downs of life builds our hope in God - which does not disappoint. And we know the love of God poured into us through the Holy Spirit living in us.
Everyday things that we hope for may not come to pass, but God's promise is that we can be sure of the hope that is in our hearts through faith in Jesus, and the work of the Holy Spirit. I pray that you know this hope over the time leading up to Christmas.
