Covid-19 update:
The number of people legally allowed to meet has been reduced to six (with a few exceptions). I have concerns about this step and a failure to exclude those under the age of 12 years (as in Scotland and Wales) from the bubble of six. This has not been debated in, or voted by, Parliament. Schools Reopen
Today, I’m visiting a local school to see how they are faring with the new term. In my Observer column, I reflected on the recent issues afflicting our education system and why it was so essential that our schools reopen.

Hospital Improvements
Another £6m has been provided to East Sussex Healthcare Trusts to bring forward plans for a major rebuild of our three hospitals. I will keep up the pressure to secure the big investment decision.

Protecting Shopworkers
One of my campaigns is to see tougher sanctions against the mindless thuggery and lawlessness which our shop and service workforce have to endure. We need tougher sentences and I’ve added my name to call for more action.

Aviation Debate
I secured, and opened, a debate in Parliament this week on our Aviation sector. It was good to have a former Prime Minister, Transport Secretary and Aviation Minister speak up for this £28 billion pound industry which employs 230,000 people; many locally.

Coronavirus Testing
With the testing centre at the Brighton Amex stadium being closed for the resumption of football, we will need a new testing site in the area to ensure sufficient availability. The online test booking system needs to direct people locally and not miles away. I’ve written to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, for a solution.

Eat Out To Help Out
Well done Bexhill and Battle constituency, a staggering 144,000 meals enjoyed during the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme in August! A real boost for our great local restaurants, cafes and pubs who got took part in the scheme.

This tracker on the government website provides information on covid-19 cases. The BBC also provides up to date information on a weekly basis which you can access here. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you need to get tested.
