DREME Reading Guides

You'll find exciting and easy-to-use reading guides for selected Mathical titles — and many more books for very young children — at the Reading Together Activities section of the DREME web site. DREME is a network of researchers from across the U.S. who collaborate to advance math teaching and learning in the early years (birth to 8). MSRI is proud to partner with DREME to produce several new reading guides annually for Mathical titles.

"Using Children's Literature to Make Real-World Mathematics Connections"

In case you missed it live, you can still catch this lively and provocative one-hour webinar, designed for caregivers, parents, and educators to introduce children's books as a way of encouraging a love of mathematics. The webinar, produced by Mathical partner the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), is available online through mid-December. It includes a focus on Cao Chong Weighs an Elephant, Solving for M, and Nothing Stopped Sophie: The Story of Unshakable Mathematician Sophie Germain. Enjoy!

Books Make the Perfect Gift

Looking for that special gift for the little and big kids in your life? Check out the titles on the Mathical Book List! There's something for everyone, from baseball to cooking, biographies to space travel, magic and adventure... and much more! You can also print bookmarks and grade-level flyers at home (Grades PreK, K–2, 3–5, 6-8, and 9–12), and even suggest books for future prize consideration!
