Newsletter Launch

Welcome to PEQ's first Newsletter!

Primary Employers Queensland is an Industrial Relations body formed specifically to provide IR advice and representation for primary industry employers engaged in livestock and agricultural commodity production.  The purpose of our Newsletter is to provide updates on what is happening in the IR scene generally and particularly in respect of issues affecting or of interest to livestock and agricultural commodity employers.  Items of interest in the broader sense will also be published from time to time.



Annual Wage Review 2014-2015

The Fair Work Commission has released its Decision in the Annual Wage Review for this year.  The Decision increases the National Minimum Wage and all Award rates by 2.5% from the beginning of the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2015Subscribers to the PEQ website can find details of new rates of wages and allowances at www.primaryemployersqld.com.au
Fair Work Commission 4 Yearly Review
 
The FWC review is currently dealing with the Pastoral Award 2010 and the Horticulture Award 2010.  In brief, the NFF is seeking annualised salaries, payment of Sunday overtime at time and a-half for milking, changes in the definition of "broadacre crops", and clarification of the formula for the calculation of the rates for Woolclassers.
The AWU is seeking double rates for crutching rams and ram stags and provisions for learner shearers.  A claim for the reduction in the 3 hour minimum payment for casuals to hours for Dairy Industry employees will be dealt with separately in the Casual Employment part of the review on common Award issues.
Submissions have been directed to be made in October.
