The increase in unemployment has directly impacted the work that is done at Mosaic Centre. Since the beginning of January we have assisted 54 new individuals with significant supports (this number is over and above the new individuals who have come seeking basic necessities). Many of the 54 are people who were working in the oil patch or related jobs and are now living in their vehicles, just trying to keep it together until work picks up again.
Students at Edmonton Christian Northeast School decided to do something to help.
In just one week they collected enough food to stock our food pantry and hand made beautiful Easter cards with personal messages for our Mosaic Centre community members.
These are by no means small gestures as we are able to witness the impact that a kind act or word from a complete stranger can have on someone who feels forgotten.
Hope springs from knowing that someone, somewhere
cares and is praying for you in your struggle.
THANK YOU ECNS for hearing the call and sharing. You are the HANDS and FEET that make a difference for many!
Easter is a time when we like to gather to celebrate with our family and friends, hunt for some chocolate treats, share a good meal (maybe turkey) and reflect on the gift of true grace that was freely given to each one of us.
At Mosaic Centre we try to remember the grace and mercy that was given to each of us and extend the same to each person in our community. Remembering that yesterday is behind us and today is a new day.
May you be blessed as you celebrate the
new life that is given in this Easter season.
