Blanket winners

Last week we congratulated the winners of the two blankets created in the Community Blanket Marathon this fall. Steve Snow was the winner of the blue blanket and Terry Lamar was the winner of the brown blanket. Present at the hand-off was Mim Bird (shop owner and knitting marathon organizer extraordinaire), Andra Asars (from Berroco, the lovely folks who donated the yarn), and Sharon Setz (of The Ripple Initiative, the nonprofit recipient of over $500 raised by the blanket raffle). We are happy to see the blankets go to good homes.

A great big thank you to everyone who knit day and night to make the two blankets come together, to all those who voted for their favorite local nonprofit by donation non perishables that were donated to the Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) food pantry, and to all who purchased a raffle ticket! We are already looking forward to doing it all over again next fall!
Gifts FOR the Knitter
Need stocking stuffers for the knitter in your life? Moisturizer, a glass nail file or clippers, locally made stitch markers, and knitters balm for the hands, lips, and for those wooden needles (they need love too).

Looking for something really special? Any one of this handmade Yarn Bowls or Yarn Swifts by local designer/turner, Francis Farley, is just the thing. Each one is an incredible work of art.

This Weekend's 12 Weeks Knit-Along
This week's project is the Gorget, a cross between a dickey and a cowl. Knit one this week with just one skein of Malabrigio Caracol. The Knit-Along will begin this Saturday, December 9th, at 10am.

Yarn School

Have you ever wondered how the yarn you choose to knit with will wear? Different projects can look very different based on the yarn you choose to knit with. With yarn, what it does in the skein is what it will do in the finished product. A droopy, floppy skein produces a soft, drapey fabric, but not much stitch definition. A springy, firm skein produces a structured, textured fabric with little or no drape.
