What We're Up To

It's been a busy month! Several founding team and board members travelled to the Teach for America 25th Anniversary Summit in Washington DC. We left energized with the chargethat Steel City Academy does its part to end educational inequities in Northwest Indiana.

Despite the freezing temperatures and postponed volunteer event, Steel City sent 15 cases of water to Flint, MI on behalf of the volunteers who signed up for our February 13 student recruitment effort. The recruitment canvas is rescheduled for THIS SATURDAY, February 20. It's going to be a beautiful day- please join us! You can use this link to sign up

School Director, Katie Kirley (l), and Board President, Hilary Lewis (r), reconnect with former Gary teacher, Vic Wakefield in Washington D.C.
Thanks to our volunteers, Steel City was able to donate to The Urban League of NWI's Water for Flint initiative.
