Message from Our Principal

With Thanksgiving and the Winter Holidays, it is a time of year to reflect on what makes us grateful here at Steel City Academy. As founding students and families, each and every one of you are at the top of my list as we work together to provide our kids boundless opportunities. Thank you for being a part of our family. It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year!

-Katie Kirley Principal
Partnership with New Horizons

Steel City Academy is partnering with local social service agency, New Horizons, to provide additional emotional and behavioral support to students and families. The Program Coordinator will be on site December 6th, 9th, 12th, 14th, and 16th to enroll students in school based services. Appointments will take no longer than 30 minutes. One on one support, group support, and family counseling may be available at no cost to you. Students enrolled in services during the year will also be eligible for a summer support and enrichment program. Food and transportation will be provided. If you are interested in your student being included, please e-mail Ms. Boulware, right away to schedule your appointment.
Steel City Academy has a limited number of spaces for second semester in the 7th and 9th grade. Please call the school at 219.750.1010 to enroll or apply online.  We have also opened enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year. If you know a student who deserves boundless opportunities, check out the application process, and apply today!

This time of the year can be difficult for families, and our students are taking the lead on helping to feed the community. During the Holiday Helpers Community Food Drive, students' squads will compete to collect cans or boxes of non-perishable food towards our school wide goal of 500. If you'd like to give a boost to a specific squad (Alcorn State, IU, Purdue, UIC, Illinois, Marquette, Harvard, Richmond, Eastern Illinois ) please bring your donation to the box at our entrance, and let us know which squad you're supporting through December 14th.
