Happy New Year!.

Hi Everyone, 
Happy New Year everyone, I hope you are enjoying our beautiful New Zealand summer.  This is just a very quick newsletter to wish everyone a very Happy New Year for 2021 and to tell you about a few new classes and products.
We have an adult dress making class using the lovely Wiksten pattern coming up on Thursday 21st January 2021 with Corrina and the Fremont Bag Class coming up on Thursday 28th January 2021 also with Corrina.  Our Monday Sew n Chat classes are up and running every Monday apart from pubic holidays and our Busy Bees Tuesday Classes start on Tuesday 19th January 2021 and our next Hand Stitching class is on Wednesday 27th January 2021.
We have lots of gorgeous Blocks of the Months, fabrics, embroidery threads, kits, patterns and notions to keep you busy, sit back, relax and have a read of our newsletter, and go along and check out our website and remember

Wiksten Shift Dress Class with Corrina
Thursday 21st January 9.30 - 3.30 

Come along and learn to fit and make this lovely Shift dress or top.  A great skill to learn to then go on and make all sorts of clothes for yourself and your family.  

This loose shift is both comfortable and elegant, the perfect wardrobe staple.  Choose from three different lengths: a cropped top, above the knee dress, or calf length dress with side slits.  The top has a plain back, while the dress has added fullness from back gathers.  Patch pockets, waist tie, and three quarter length sleeve options are included.  Neck is finished with an easy to sew facing.

Fremont Bag Class with Corrina

This bag uses Waxed Canvas and Linen as the fabrics and features exterior pocket, zipper closure, interior pockets and durable leather straps.  Learn how to put on on all this delicious hardware – makes it look like a bought one except you will have bragging rights – “I made this!”

Sock Knitting Class with Jean Friday 5th and 12th February 2021 10.00 - 1.00 both days

Friday 5th and 12th February 2021  10.00 – 1.00 both days.  Jean will teach you how to make socks from the toe up so you can try them on as you knit to get the perfect fit and you will also learn how to do socks using the Magic Loop method.  It is such a useful skill to learn and they make wonderful gifts.  The handmade socks last so much longer than the bought variety and there are such a lovely variety of sock yarns to make them in.  The only stipulation with this class is you must buy your yarn here before class.

Boro Drawstring Bag Class with Ngaire
Thursday 18th and Thursday 25th February 2021

Come along and learn how to make this cute Boro Drawstring bag with the gorgeous Koki Clips, waxed cotton cord and little tulip cord ends.  It can either be made by hand or machine so a very flexible class.   

Textile Card Making class

Friday 5th March 9.30 - 3.30

Come along and learn how to make arty greeting cards with your sewing machine.  This is a fun class and you will learn how to do free-motion drawing with your needle on your sewing machine.  Must have a free motion foot for your sewing machine.

Petite Very Velvet Threads

These gorgeous threads are equivalent to a perle 8 thread.  They are so luxurious looking when stitched with.  Just a joy to stitch.  These will be going on our website as soon as we can get them there,  In the meantime if you want to order any just give us a ring on 09 4312443 and we can help you order these beautiful threads.

Homegrown Block of the Month by Sue Spargo 

Homegrown uses a selection of Sue's favourite stitches and threads which she encourages you to try, as they add texture and depth to your blocks, what better way to spend your time while cooped up at home.  .
The cost for it will be $75.00 per month for 10 months + postage.  This is will include all wool fabrics, cottons fabrics for blocks borders and binding + ric racs and ribbons.  Threads are not included but I will do a kit for the threads if you want one.  You will need to purchase your book separately.  We will have these in stock if you need it at $59.90.  
I hope some of you join us on this delightful journey to keep your mind healthy in these trying times. 

Pretty Birds Block of the Month by Elizabeth Hartman

Pretty Birds is a tropical bird sampler quilt pattern by Elizabeth Hartman
Cockatoos, toucans, cockatiels, macaws and lorikeets!  This flock of feathered friends may not live together in the wild, but seem to be getting along famously in Elizabeth Hartman's latest sampler quilt.  
Block of the month members will  receive everything they need to make the 69 x 79" sized cover quilt including 
  • Manchester cotton for the background, plus dark and white detail fabric
  • coordinating Manchester cotton + Kona colours
  • 16 prints from Elizabeth Hartman's upcoming Library fabric collection
  • Binding fabric
  • the 28 page Pretty Birds pattern booklet
The Pretty Birds BOM will run over 8 months and will start in May/June 2020.  

Freshcut Block of the Month by Sue Spargo

This is another lovely quilt by Sue Spargo that we are doing as a block of the month at the moment.  This is available now and is a delight to work on.  Sue uses all her stitches in her Creative Stitching book and her lovely perle # 8 perle #5 and perle #3 threads. It is a great way to sharpen up on your embroidery.
This block of the month runs for 11 months and cost $75.00 per month includes all wool fabrics, cotton fabrics, rick racks and ribbons but not your threads.   

Simply Spring Block of the Month by Ngaire Montgomery-Williams

This block of the month uses a mixture of 100% wool felt and cotton fabrics and has a mixture of hand applique, embroidery and machine piecing so a bit of everything in the one quilt.  
Cost is $66.00 + postage per month for 8 months.
Make this quilt for a special someone in your life.  It has machine appliqued blocks depicting the roadworks we all have to stop for when we travel anywhere these days.  It also has reflective tape on the border to keep your little person happy at night.

Boro Collage Kit

This cushion is available as a kit and is a delight to arrange the fabrics in any order you choose, and then hand stitch it all on. Can be made into a cushion or put onto the back of a jacket.   A lovely quiet calming thing to do.  Available as a kit or pattern only.
