Dear Members and Friends,

On Sunday 19 June we held a very successful launch of our young adult division, Empower Her. The purpose of Empower Her is to engage the NSW Jewish Community’s young adults in women’s issues and advocacy. Empower Her is not just for women, but rather for everyone to come together to uplift and empower them.

The team comprises of Claudia Goldblatt, Dayna Talbot, Emma Calmonson, Natalie Sussman, Nicola Berman, Rachel Stanton, Sabrina Ulis, Sami Hurwitz, Sophie Levy and young adult division chair Zoe Guenzl.

The launch event, titled ‘Celebrating Her Success’, showcased four amazing panellists; Rikki Stern (Cancer Chicks Australia), Peta Shulman (GoodnessMe Box), Michele Goldman (Asthma Australia) and Kerri Sackville (columnist and author). They were kind enough to share their journeys so far, where they are now compared to where they thought they’d be, challenges they’ve faced either because of being a woman, Jewish or a young person, and how they motivate themselves to keep pursuing success even when times get tough. This is only the beginning for Empower Her. Like NCJWA NSW on Facebook (Facebook/com/ncjwa.nsw) and follow them on Instagram (Instagram.com/ncjwansw) to keep up to date with what they’re up to.

Please read the NSW Jewish Community Organisations survey below and take the time to fill out this important survey.

In 2020 the NCJWA Vic and Monash University’s Australia Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC) undertook research in order to gain a deeper understanding of gender related issues in Jewish community organisations in Victoria. The results of this research can be found
here
In 2022 the NCJWA NSW is undertaking the same survey for our community. In order to conduct this research we are asking you to fill out a survey, please see link.
This research investigates questions of gender equity, discrimination and harassment in communal organisations, and the findings will provide an evidence base for the NCJWA NSW to develop further resources, tools and campaigns to help Jewish organisations work towards safer professional and community environments.

Please note that all responses will be anonymised before any results are released by the researcher - Rebecca Forgasz. There will be no way for to know who has completed the survey or what they may have said.

Thank you for taking part in this important study, and we look forward to sharing the results with you later this year.
