Hi <<First Name>> What a great October we had!

October opened with another highly successful Rotary presents....on the podium with 40 attendees. The presenter, Mark Stothard, was right on the money.

Rob and Ric are looking for more presentation subjects/ideas for future dates; whether its business, climate, health; etc.
I will kick off with: Making your business successful - How to Hire Well.
And October ended with a very good night at the Kalamunda Rotary Club listening to Graham Edwards speaking about the relevance of the RSL and healing the rift with Vietnam vets and watching the very moving short film produced for ANZAC 100.

Design Input Please!

This is for the inventors, engineers and thinkers in the Club.

The Rotary Club of Oak Bay, Victoria, BC, Canada is working together with a Rwandan partner to design and build 28 residential, composting toilets in rural Rwanda. During the last 18 months the partner has developed a safe, sanitary, dignified toilet for under $200.
This is an invitation to anyone interested in helping with ideas for further improvements to the design and/or manufacture. The goal is to design an inexpensive and effective composting toilet using readily available local materials

Thornlie Primary School - Mentoring Program

Christine Thomas is the chaplain at Thornlie Primary School and she wrote to the Club seeking mentors to work with some of the students.
Christine asked "We are seeking people who have a WWCC, are good listeners and able to give 30-60mins a week regularly through to the end of next year (2016) to work with students who need a bit of extra support.  Activities during this time would be planned in consultation with the student's teacher and/or myself.  They may include listening, helping with some school work, and/or playing social games".

I am very happy to bring to the Club's attention that Sandy Baraiolo took up the challenge, gained her working with children card and joined the mentoring program, all while serving on other school councils representing the Rotary Club of Southern Districts and juggling her busy diary to suit.

Terrific effort, Sandy!
