Five wetlands that help us cope with extreme weather events

For World Wetlands Day 2017, the Ramsar Convention has developed communication materials to raise awareness of the role of mangroves, coral reefs, rivers and flood plains, inland deltas and peatlands in protecting people from extreme events, such as droughts, floods and storms. They also play an important role in mitigating climate change and generating local income. Access the full materials here.
Call for feedback: Inventory of EbA tools
Including 160 tools, the 'Inventory of tools and methodologies relevant for ecosystem-based adaptation practitioners', was developed by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), IUCN and UNEP-WCMC. Feedback on the latest draft is being requested until 31 January 2017. To learn more, click here.

Natural infrastructure guide for business 


The Natural Infrastructure for Business platform, developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), CH2M and The Nature Conservancy, is designed to introduce business leaders and practitioners to natural infrastructure and their multiple benefits. The platform provides concrete guidance, case studies and tools. Research Fellowship
Calling all conservation leaders in Africa, Asia and Latin America
In order to build capacity of conservationists and those working in related fields, WWF US through the Education for Nature Program (EFN) is offering fellowships to emerging leaders who are able to make significant contributions to helping people and nature adapt to a changing climate. Civil society alliance to improve resilience in Lujan River basin, Argentina
The wetlands of the Lujan River basin, in Argentina, play a key role in regulating and mitigating the effects of flood events, preventing erosion and protecting the coast. Wetlands International in partnership with the Canadian Embassy in Argentina are working with local civil society to enhance their participation in planning and policy-making and advocate for natural infrastructure solutions to mitigate flood impacts.
