Used Workout Shirt Collection Drive

Please consider donating used F3 shirts (in respectable condition) for the residents / F3 Nation members at the Charlotte Rescue Mission, who post Saturdays at The Mission I’m Possible workout. Your shirt donation would be greatly appreciated by our brothers in substance recovery.  When posting there this past weekend, several men did NOT have workout clothes at all, and those that had a donated F3 shirt were so proud of them. Contact @JRRTolkienF3 on Twitter, or send him a Slack message to arrange pickup or bring them to a workout for consolidated collection. Thank you.

F3 Dads Camping Trip - April 29-30

April 29 4:00 pm - April 30 12:00 noon
As you know, the last camping trip was snowed out and had to be postponed.  Now is your chance to get in on the rescheduled fun.
  • When: April 29 4:00 pm - April 30 12:00 noon
  • Where: Anne Springs Close Greenway - Lake Haigler / Nature Center Entrance - Camping Sites #1 and #2
  • Who: All Area 51 and SOB F3 Dads and 2.0's welcome
Details: We will arrive Saturday evening, set up camp, and hike/play around until it is time for campfire, hot dogs, smores, and camping fun. In the morning, we will have breakfast, more campfire, and more hiking/playing. We will then pack up and go home around noon Sunday. The campground has a bathhouse with power and the campsites are about 200-300 yds from the parking area (not glamping, but not rustic wilderness either). If interested, please join the #f3dads channel on Slack and comment with your HC.  If you are not into Slack, email Honey Bee ( In Lex Luthor's words, it will be epic!

Site Q and Q Reminder

Reminder for Qs/Site Qs to make sure we get all the info we need from FNGs and to give FNGs all the info they need to become "part" of this thing as soon as possible, i.e., how to get on Slack, Twitter, email, where to find the workout schedule and where to find the map, some of our contact names and numbers or email addresses in case they need help with something, and whatever else gets them in the loop right away so they keep coming back. Signing up a FNG will send them a welcome letter with a lot of this detail.

Richard Sheltra Memorial 10K, 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Saturday, April 29th at 0730
Attention All Pax!  Sign up for the Sheltra Run and bring a shovel flag in-hand (or two if you're a real patriot like Flipper).

We are looking for F3 PAX who want to run the 10k and 5k as a team of 3, 4, or 5 depending on the number of flags we can get, and the number of people who want to run longer distances with the flags in-hand.

The Goal: Support our volunteer firefighters through demonstrating the importance of teamwork, fellowship, and encouragement.

Pre-blast for Race Below:

Times for Race:
  • 7:30a - 10k
  • 7:45a - 5k
  • 8:15a - 1mi
This Event honors a local fallen firefighter, Mr. Richard Sheltra of the Pineville Volunteer Fire Department.  All proceeds will benefit the "Richard Sheltra Memorial Fund."  This Fund is designed to purchase New Turnout Gear and Educational Expenses for first responders.

Contact Dumpster Fire and Cheddar for details. Let us know if you're bringing your shovel flag as a dance partner.

Join The Conversation on Slack

We are using Slack for F3 South Charlotte comz. Conversation is private and requires a login. If you are interesting in joining, please reach out to a Site Q or other Slack-enabled PAX. Opt-in! There are various F channels for Fitness (ocr racing, runs, etc.), Fellowship (areas, regions, mumblechatter, recommendations), and Faith (3rd F sites, serve, Dads, etc.).

Note on AO Use

A51 has long-standing relationships with the private organizations that allow us to workout on their grounds.  For these places, we have been given specific times and days to be on the premises. Please check with the site Q's at least one week before date of unscheduled workout to allow enough time for Site Q to contact the appropriate people at the site.

Workout Safety and Local Rules

Lights and/or reflectives that can be seen from 500 feet when hit by headlights are needed by runners in the roads of Charlotte in the dark. As we note repeatedly in our disclaimer, F3, the workout Q, nor the facility are responsible for your personal safety. You, having chosen to follow the suggestions of the workout Q, are solely responsible for your personal safety. That being said, you are also responsible for choosing to comply with municipal codes.  Bottom line is, please do all you can to keep yourself safe. Reflective gear helps reduce the chance of being struck by a car. Sounds like a good idea any way you look at it. Also, please consider buying a RoadID. In an emergency, the men around you need to be able to contact your family.  They are on sale here:  Road ID - World Leaders in Runner ID, Cycling ID & Medical ID Tags

Be safe men
