The Zonta Grapevine

Issue 11

In this edition...

From the President...

Happy spring fellow Zontians and supporters!  I hope you all had a lovely Easter break. I start by letting you know this will be the last bulletin to feature me as President of the Zonta Club of London II.  I will step down at the Annual General Meeting in April and Vice-President Ann Edqvist will take over as the President for the 2016-17 year.

I congratulate Ann on taking the post and the new Board will be confirmed at the AGM, as well as the chairs of the committees, and the charities we will support in the upcoming year.

I am honoured to have served the Zonta Club of London II as President and to have had the support of the Board and the Club over the last year. My achievements have been to professionalise the Club and build on the talents of the Club members, including starting this monthly newsletter and an electronic filing system for the Club in Dropbox, as well as orderly and regular meetings of the Board.

For helping me achieve this, you are to be acknowledged and thanked.

I look forward to the Club’s activities for the upcoming year!

Golden Z Club of London
Our Club is very proud to announce that we are sponsoring a Golden Z Club!  Golden Z Clubs are university students coming together to do similar service projects to a regular Zonta Club and to nurture leadership and community service skills in young feminists, and future Zontians.

This is the very first Golden Z Club in our district, so we are very proud indeed.

Founding Golden Z member Ilina Trendafilova put together a proposal for our Club to consider, and with the help of our Board member Britt Gustawsson, it was accepted!
We will have more details in upcoming editions of Zonta Grapevine soon, and a page on our website for university students who would like to be involved.

Survey for members, prospective members and supporters
As we are starting with a new Board very shortly, we thought this would be an opportune time to survey the recipients of the Zonta Grapevine. What do you want to get out of the Club, what do you think we should be doing, and how can you contribute? We are interested in your thoughts.

Please complete the survey here.
Dress for Success - our last dinner meeting
Zonta Programme Chair Carol Ann Howells with Dress for Success Programme Manager Fionnuala Shannon

We were very pleased to have Dress for Success Programme Manager Fionnuala Shannon come and speak to us at our March meeting.  Fionnuala gave us a lively talk about how she brings her formidable energy to this inspiring charity, which was started in New York, but is now a global movement, to help disadvantaged women get back to work.

Our own lovely Club member Stella Okuzu volunteers her time to Dress for Success.

Donate to the Zonta London Fund, our charity
As always, feel free to donate to our Fund via our giving page or by text messaging, as per the picture!

These platforms automatically allow you to declare your Gift Aid status as a UK taxpayer, giving our Club the benefit.
Your input counts!
We would like to continue to develop our bulletin with our members and supporters in mind.  If you have anything you would like to share with the Club, please do not hesitate to email
