$24 Billion and Growing...

Medical Necessity and the Law

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reports on its website that the government has recovered over $24 billion from healthcare providers through False Claims Act cases since 2009.  Make sure you, your vendors or your healthcare provider clients don’t become an enforcement target.  Review documentation and double check Medicare Triple Check processes for accurate billing practices vis-à-vis services rendered.

"Healthcare fraud is a top priority for the FBI and we will continue to work closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to address vulnerabilities, fraud and abuse in the healthcare industry."

  - Andrew G. McCabe, Assistant Director in Charge, FBI's Washington Field Office

Visit the DOJ website to read about how one of the nation’s largest healthcare providers, ManorCare, ended up a defendant in a False Claims Act lawsuit for allegedly providing medically unnecessary therapy.
