The final verse from our scripture last Sunday as we prepare for sabbatical is, “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” It comes from the third chapter of the letter to the Colossians and is a helpful reminder for all of us. As we seek to speak, act, and live in the ways of Christ, my prayer is that we each might be filled with the presence of the living Christ. I give thanks for the First Christian Church community because we have wonderful leaders who will step up in this time. I give thanks for the First Christian Church community because you have supported me and enabled me to engage in this time of sabbatical. I remind you to also find time for rest and renewal. I give thanks for the loving relationship we share which isdifficult to step away from, even for only three months. I know that you will learn much from Rev. Sydney as you share in ministry together. I know that you will support her and love her, and that when we gather once again in October, we will each be more capable and prepared for shared ministry from the experiences we have had. Know that I will be praying for each of you and I appreciate your prayers.
