Our South African Constitutional democracy actively promotes the idea of public consultation. Over 40 Bills are currently waiting to be processed further in the legislative process, some of them with far reaching consequences for private companies. Current examples, such as the Copyright Amendment Bill and the suggested new Mining Charter have shown the importance of proactive engagement with government and the public opinion.
Understanding the commercial, political and socio-economic landscape, and correspondingly shaping perceptions and contributing to the development and enhancement of policies and regulations have become a key priority for locally active private and public companies.
We are proud to present this workshop to you, which provides three speakers who will update you on the latest regulatory aspects in infrastructure, share first-hand experience in terms of the importance of public participation, recent constructive interactions between government and private sector and, last not least, how to proactively get involved in upcoming legislative initiatives that will require input. The workshop format will provide sufficient room for questions and discussions.
