The purpose of Nu Africa is to provide quality goods at affordable prices for the duty-free market. There are currently three 'arms' to this business and they are diplomatic, sea farers (people that live and work on ships bound out of South Africa)  and exports (we export from Dubai, Singapore and the entire African continent).
They are also accredited vendors to the United Nations, and are listed on the United Nations Global Marketplace, with level one status pending for some of the UN agencies. To supply FMCGs such as alcohol, tobacco and confectionaries.

Now, let's have a look to what we have been up to lately.

Our Member IBN offered their services and experience to assist the community with their questions about immigration in South Africa. We hosted a seminar in our offices, where all our Members were able to make direct questions about their situation and get the right advice from professionals. Andreas Krensel, Managing Director, gave us some piece of advice about this never ending-subject and his professional view on where the upcoming regulations are heading.

She also came for a visit to our offices in Shortmarket Street to see our installations. The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in RSA is an official institution, which allows us to be part of the network of Spanish Chambers, not only in Spain but also with the rest of the official Spanish Chambers over the world.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce, with the collaboration of NSBA and IBN, organised a breakfast seminar about Doing Business in Southern Africa in the Radisson Blue in Sandton.

The panel was presented by the Trade Commissioners of Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique. We had an overview over the possibilities of investment in these countries. This was followed by an introduction on the mobility of these countries by IBN, who talked about the requirements for the different visas in order to work or make business there.

As usual, it was a fantastic opportunity for networking among our Members, the Members of NSBA, and the important institutions who attended.

Roberto Gomez, director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, gave a speech about the relationship of the Chamber and these initiatives that make South Africa and Spain closer, not only from a business point of view, but also from a cultural side.

Invited guests enjoyed and evening of fine sherry, delicious cousine and authentic Spanish song and dance at Cape Town’s trendy Villa 47 on Bree. Traditional Spanish Dancing by local dance troupe SoloFLAMENCO ended the evening on a high note.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in RSA and the Spanish Embassy, organised for the first time the Paella Contest in Pretoria.

We host business, social and cultural events, as well as part of the expat integration of the society in SA.

This event was very well attended by families, with activities for the children and 17 teams of paella contestants.

The Jury, formed by José Ángel Pérez (winner of the Paella Contest in Cape Town 2015), José Minguillón (President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in RSA, Grupo Cobra) and Genoveva Fernandez, commenced the rounds for paella tasting at two pm. It was a difficult decision, since all the teams made enormous efforts and the level was quite high.

The third prize was awarded to one of our Members, CaixaBank.
