Shots of Strategy

Hi there good-looking, glad to see you at this edition of the Shots of Strategy newsletter! Quick shots of inspirational tips to improve the strategy for your creative business

This month, 4 shots on Hourly rates, Approaching potential clients, Storytelling and Time realism.

 3 Shots of Strategy

Don't blink

Freelancer rates seem high. Partly, because we (falsely) compare them to the hourly wages we used to make. Know that there's a good chance that the person you're talking to costs the company more per hour than what you're charging.

But also, because we don't really know what others ask for. Or, what clients are used paying for.

That dissonance can make you sabotage your proposal. Looking away, stuttering, or jumping to discount offers before there even was a response. Don't blink!

We need to solve that. But how? To help us figure out how your rates stack up with "the market", I created a super short questionnaire.

Fill in the form

I'm asking you to fill in your rates. I send a report with the aggregated rates back to everyone who filled it in!

[Need help figuring out what your rates - at the very least - need to be? Check out my free Hourly Rate Calculator!]

Enchanting Marketing - Storytelling in writing

Want to write in a way that keeps eyes glued to the page? Your writing could be in need of some storytelling techniques. Here's 7. Including, plunging the reader into action, using action verbs, and creating suspense. Nicely illustrated with examples.

Benek Lisefski - How to land your dream clients

Do you know that there are clients out there who could greatly benefit from your work? But, struggle to find the right way to approach them? Benek is back in this month's edition. I like his writing. This time with a complete guide (I mean, COMPLETE) explaining exactly how to approach your dream clients. Dive in!

Julie Morgenstern - Becoming a Time Realist

Of course, using your time effectively is a great way to becoming more productive. But, as an entrepreneur, it's also necessary to have a good grasp on how much time you spend on something. Because, becoming better at managing your time gives you the insights to write better proposals/budgets for clients.

 3 Shots of Inspiration

  1. Even dood: Leven na een hartstilstand. Yes, that's right.
  2. Conversation with Russell Brand and Charles Eisenstein on new economic systems and what's wrong with the current climate change narrative. Russel Brand at his quietest.
  3. The wabi-sabi way of viewing the world.
