Artists from all regions and cultures have, across many generations, come to Australia
to live and work. This exhibition explores the aesthetic and conceptual intersections and
exchanges that occur between them through sharing their work and ideas. This merging
of visual and cultural traditions informs the practice of many Australian artists as they
retain and draw upon their own cultural heritage and identity as well as those of their
adopted society and the diversity and variety within.
This show expresses the hope that this cultural exchange will enrich the work of all the
artists working on this continent and contribute to the development of an international
voice incorporating the diverse voices working together in Australia, an artistic melting
pot of infinite possibility.
