Hello, and welcome to my seasonal update e-mail... My first for 2018!  Grab a coffee/wine/jawbreaker, because I have a lot to share.  #SorryI'mAwesome

To start off: I've shown my own work a number of times recently!  My newest solo, Halation (pictured above), was premiered at the ETC Series in November.  It's semi-autobiographical and semi idol-centric... Just like all of my work.  My next solo, Event Space, will be shown at Leah Stein's Studio Works on Monday in Philadelphia!

Marisa Illingworth and Margot Electra Steinberg performed Golden Era, my first non-Sean piece in a while, at Mascher in December and FringeArts in February.... We'll see where it goes next!

Coming up, the inspirational Lauren Linder and I are currently working on our next project: a show full of duets to be shown in Seattle at YAW Theater this summer.  More information coming soon, but I do know that we're visiting Iowa City in April to reset and revise 30 Years Ago, 40 Years From Now by Melinda Jean Myers!
The Naked Stark is busy as per usual!  After our tour to Chicago (pictured here), we finished our year off with our Series of Informal Events, research on Goodnight War Workshop, and a school show!  In March we'll host Meet The Naked Stark, and, after three years of rehearsals, Visible Structures will be premiered May 17th-20th at Mascher Space Cooperative!
I've been working with Dana Powers-Klooster for a year now on her new piece, Maybe instead.  This trio (also danced by Marie Brown) will be performed at the InHale Performance Series on Friday.  Get your tickets now!  (Photo not representative of actual dance.)
I performed as part of stb x at in Heaviness/Lightness by Lyons and Tigers twice: once at The Naked Stark's Series of Informal Events and once at SHARE at The Iron Factory.  Stay tuned for an upcoming Spring showing!
As I continue to teach everything I know about dance to my students at First Position Dance Arts, I find myself trying to give them more and more classical training,  Now I'm teaching variations (we learned Sugar Plum on the day this picture was taken), and my classes will join forces to perform a Swan Lake-inspired mini-ballet at Bryn Mawr College in June!
Vervet Dance has presented durational improvisation a number of times in the past few months!  We performed an excerpt of In The Light at the University City Arts League in December, and our first full day improvisation was in January at Rigby Mansion.  Our next showings will be March 25th, June 16th, and September 15th at Mascher.  Join us anytime sunrise to sunset!

Nora Gibson Contemporary Ballet and Anne-Marie Mulgrew & Dancers Company are both having shows at Performance Garage this Spring.  NGCB will perform HUMAN at the theater's gala on April 18th, and will have our run that weekend.  Anne-Marie Mulgrew's concert will be June 1st and 2nd!

In terms of stb x at's activity: Andy Thierauf and I just had a wonderful show at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina!  Who knew the South enjoyed vaguely-experimental dance and music collaborations?  We performed Excuse me, trio, we're all dancing on a cliff together, and Blanc & Bonk - and I did a killer job playing lighting designer.  We're pictured above with the director of their music program Dr. Zach Zubow, another Iowa alumnus!  Earlier in December, we had the opportunity to show a twenty-minute version of we're all dancing on a cliff together at Dixon Place in New York City for Moving Men... What a treat!  In other news: Our compilation album has made one sale so far.  We're bound for Billboard Top 100 fame... Move over, Josie and the Pussycats!

Ughhhhhh - Thanks for reading about me for so long.  You deserve another glass (of that wine I referred to at the start... See how I'm making this casual?)
