As we layer on the merino and throw another log on the wood burner, take comfort in knowing that summer is on its way! It has been great to see so many of you at the Scripture Union children's ministry conferences in Auckland and Wellington, and at other regional training events.
Strandz have put together two new workshops for Way2Go this year:
A New Kind of Leader - 7 principles that matter when we consider how to best lead our children and families ministry
Lead Small - Can small groups and small churches have a big impact? Perhaps the things we do for a few will always have more potential than what we do for many?
Along with workshops on Phase, children and families ministry, and Intergenerational workshops, there are some great training opportunities that Strandz offers. Get in touch if you'd like to know more!
Blessings The Strandz Team
Welcome Bishop Eleanor!
A warm welcome and congratulations to Bishop Eleanor "Ellie" Sanderson, the first female Anglican Bishop for the Diocese of Wellington. Eleanor was ordained Assistant Bishop on the 2nd June, and you can see photos of the great day on Facebook. As the Taonga Article says about the ordination “We wanted to make it about family,” said Bishop Eleanor, “In this diocese when we say ‘we are family’, it isn’t lip service, we are trying to live that in all we do.” You can As part of Bible Society's Bible Month, they highlight Bishop Eleanor's love for the Bible and how her parish of Eastbourne distributed 70 bibles to children in the community last year.

The 2nd July is marked as Refugee Sunday in the Anglican Church and is a time to celebrate the contributions that refugees make, pray for their safety, and offer our support. We have scoured the internet and put up some great resources on our website. Our favourites include:
Ngā Tīmatanga - the early story of the Bible in New Zealand
The Bible Society NZ have put together this short video which tells the story of how the Bible arrived in New Zealand and how it spread quickly amongst Māori throughout the country.
It has been great to hear how many of our Anglican children's ministry leaders have been learning more about Godly Play at Taster days and Core Training events, and training as Story Tellers. There are some Taster days coming up in Wellington and Hamilton, or contact Debbie Smith for more information

Fidget Spinner Prayer Wheel
This resource incorporates the hottest toy craze to sweep the world, so why not use it in your children's ministry? We have put together a prayer wheel to print out and use to select different prayer topics. The Anglican Youth Ministry also have a Spinner Questions game you can use.
We had a lot of inserts in our recent Facebook post about Praygrounds - creating a space at the centre of church for children to worship. Here are two website that talk about them - Faithful Families website and Interpreter Magazine. What do you think? Would this work in your church, and have you tried it? We'd love to see some photos and hear about the spaces you have created, as churches have been asking for NZ examples, so get in touch! (Photo: Faithful families)
