As we get stuck into Term 2, there is much to look forward to in the weeks ahead. In the church calendar, we celebrate Ascension and Pentecost, so have included some resources and ideas to mark those days with your church. New Zealand also celebrates Mothers' Day this Sunday, on 14th May, so you may like to do something to honour the women in your community.
We hope you can get along to some of the children's ministry workshops and training available this month - otherwise get in touch with your diocesan office to see if there is any local training in your region. And as ever, we love hearing from you - so make sure you share your good news stories, ideas and resources with us, so we can encourage others around the country in their ministry with young people.
Blessings The Strandz Team
We have a few ideas on our website for how you can celebrate Mothers' Day this weekend. It can be a great opportunity to welcome and honour the women in your congregation, but remember it can be a difficult day for many women - so handle it with care and love for all, regardless of whether they have children in their lives, or not.
Ascension and Pentecost
Pentecost falls on Sunday 4th June this year, and we have a bunch of resources and ideas on our website and on Connectible. We also love 'When God made the Church' - a beautiful story book sharing the story with vibrant colourful images, and descriptive language to share the story of Pentecost. The video above is The story of the Ascension by Saddleback Kids
We put together some postcards that can be sent to leaders, parents, kids and anyone who needs a word of encouragement. Available from our website for $6 + postage & packaging.
Messy Church is growing around New Zealand, supported by Rev. Debbie Smith and her Messy church team of leaders. There are some great workshops and opportunities coming up, to find out how Messy Church could help you reach the unchurched families in your community. Read here for a testimony from Kapiti Anglican Parish on how Messy Church is impacting their community.
