Alexandra Connor  "Sugar Mill Store, Maui"  Watercolor 11x14

Benicia Plein Air Gallery welcomes Walnut Creek watercolorist Alexandra Connor.  Her work will be on display at the Gallery beginning in March.   Alexandra Connor discovered urban sketching through joining Bay Area Plein Air groups.  She began working in watercolor in 2018 and watercolor is now her primary focus.

In Alexandra's words, “There are so many moving parts to a watercolor—the composition, the mood, the values, the color harmony, the variety of brush strokes, the perspective, the wetness of the paper, the thickness of the paint—it’s a challenge that continues to be both daunting and rewarding. The complexity of this dance is what pulls me in again and again. My aim is to try to capture the excitement of this challenge and to encourage the viewer to see as I see.”
