Iris Sabre is dedicated to observing the beauty of the natural world and interpreting that beauty through her painting. She has a firm belief in the restorative powers of nature and its ability to provide solace in troubled times. She communicates the joy and the beauty of the natural world through her painting. Working on site with oil paint, using bold and vivid colors, she rapidly completes her relatively large format paintings.
Iris was born and raised in San Francisco in a family of artists. She attended UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University, where she received bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and in Fine Arts, as well as California teaching credentials in Multiple Subjects and Art. She has taught elementary school in the Bay Area for many years, where she has continued to inspire young people with the wonders of art and nature. Iris is a founding member of the Benicia Plein Air Gallery and her work may also be seen with the Marin Society of Artists Gallery in San Rafael and with the Oakland Art Association in a variety of venues.
Iris will be at the Gallery Saturday, April 8th, Saturday, April 15th, and Sunday, April 23rd, 11 am - 5 pm, to greet old friends and welcome new ones.
