Tickets on Sale NOW!

Proving that everything new can be old again, pianist Scott Bradlee has become a viral pop sensation after creating a series of clips for YouTube that finds him and his ad hoc group Postmodern Jukebox reworking 21st century pop hits in a variety of vintage styles transforming Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” into a ‘50s-style doo wop number, giving Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” a ‘20s jazz accent, crossing Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” with Irish folk music, and showing how Ke$ha’s “Die Young” would work as a classic country tune.

Glen Campbell I'll be Me

If you have not had a chance to view the screening of Glen Campbell I’LL BE ME, you may be interested in the commercial-free showing on CNN Sunday 6/28/15, 9-11 pm EST.  The movie is a very personal behind-the-scenes portrayal of Alzheimer’s disease,  with emphasis on a sense-of-humor tone throughout the movie. Of course, it’s a musical experience
as well!

For more information on an Alzheimer's disease study, visit
www.AD-Trial.com or call 1-866-503-6006 to see if you or a loved one may qualify!

AJFCA Launches

Senior Resource Connect

an Older Adult Services Website

Senior Resource Connect is a brand new Older Adult Services Website. JFS of York is one of 125 member agencies of the Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies. AJFCA recently launched Senior Resource Connect, a website that brings the aging services expertise of the AJFCA network to the public, providing information and resources to assist older adults and their caregivers in discussing their needs with aging services professionals via a one-stop connection to local service providers in communities throughout North America.

The aging process presents a myriad of challenges affecting people of all ages and caregivers of older adults experience these issues first-hand. Nearly 30% of Americans and Canadians caregivers are actually long distance caregivers. There is a great need for information, resources and services to assist both older adults and the individuals involved in caring for them.

JFS of York along with many Senior Resource Connect organizations are staffed with experienced care managers who are the experts in aging well.

Project Corner!

Part of JFS outreach efforts has included bringing Shabbat to the residents of Country Meadows and Senior Commons. This month, we were able to combine some residents from each and invite others from our community. The end result was a "congregation" of 15!

Rabbi Astrachan led this service and it was very comforting to hear all the voices in the room singing together.

An area of concentration for JFS has been the issue of life transitions and preventing or addressing isolation. Many of us take for granted that we can hop in the car and go see a friend or run into one by chance while out and about. We can at the last minute decide if we are going to go to services or not at your congregation. For a growing number of people this can be a labor intensive planning and arranging process. We are very grateful to Dave & Marilyn Neuburger, Jessica Brein, Iris Katz & Jack Schatz, Delores Hochberger, Cynthia Goodman Mumma & the Rabbi for recognizing this and participating to welcome the Sabbath and make it special. We were honored to be a part of it.

For more information on how you can help to make a difference in addressing isolation or to participate in any of our programming, please call Rachel at 717-843-5011.
