I like it when people ask me what I was thinking or feeling when I made something. I don't always have good answers. Sometimes I was just enjoying the shapes and colors, or I was trying to draw as many weird birds as I could (like in this new coloring page PDF).
But the other day my friend Nichole (Hi Nichole!) asked me about the green monsters, and I told her I was really sad when I drew them, and perhaps I was trying to tell myself: "Hey, it's not so bad!"
These drawings are sometimes notes to self, ways of remembering what's important.
Which brings me to the hands. I really like hands, they are strange and fun to draw. They are often our connection to the world, the food we make, the people we touch.
A few years ago I had the realization that doing things with my hands made me happy. It's a simple thing but it felt like an important way to understand what matters in life. That's what I was thinking when I drew these hand pieces I'm making available today.
As promised, I'm releasing these pieces here first. I only made 11 original prints so grab one soon. Pay what you wish worked so well last time I'm doing it again, thank you for making it possible.
I hope your hands are warm this winter.
