The Amsterdam Excel Summit
Our famous Amsterdam Excel Summit was a huge success.
On May 26th and 27th, 2016 we were in Amsterdam for the third Amsterdam Excel Summit. This time the Summit itself is a one-day event but we had a post-conference training day: The Excel Charting And Dashboard Masterclass.
The first day started out fine in our great venue with a wonderful view over Amsterdam.
Yigal Edery, Program Manager of Microsofts Excel team based in Israel kicked off our event with a very interesting keynote. Yigal told us what's up next with Excel Power BI tools:
Charting guru Jon Peltier explained a lot about how to automate tedious charting chores using a little bit of VBA. The devil is in the detail!
Charles Williams explained all about Evil functions in a relaxed style
Henk Vlootman showed us how you properly setup a Power Pivot model and what to look out for.
Bob Umlas, the master of Excel tips and tricks did just that: share dozens of nice tricks you can use in your daily Excel work.
And Guy Hunkin, another PM form the Microsoft Israel team showed the audience what PowerQuery can do and gave us a peek under the (M) hood of PQ.
The next day our Excel Charting And Dashboard Masterclass proved to be the exact right choice for our audience.
We had David Hoppe, runner-up of the 2014 Chandoo Dashboard contest explain how he builds dashboards
Of course Charting Guru Jon Peltier enlightened us about how charts should be made using Excel. And after that, Tony de Jonker explained our class all about objects on charts
What a perfect event we've had. All attendees gave us excellent grades in the review so we can safely say everyone had a lot of fun and learnt a lot
We've not quite set the dates for next year, but jot down the weeks of May 8 and 15, 2016 as we will likely schedule the event in either week.
The Excel VBA Masterclass
This in-house training covering advanced VBA subjects such as Error handling, Userform design, Class modules and etcetera has been a great success. Please fill out this short survey if you are interested in this course! We're going to plan this course real soon. Tentative period: October 2016
