Spring Updates from PeaceTrees Vietnam
This week, PeaceTrees Vietnam celebrated International Day for Mine Awareness & Assistance in Mine Action. We are proud to be part of an international community, dedicated to assisting those whose lives and livelihoods are impacted by the explosive remnants of war. At the forefront of PeaceTrees’ mine action work is our team of 40 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians, who work tirelessly to clear the land of unexploded ordnance in Vietnam, returning it to safety and productive use. The team is approaching the 100,000 piece of UXO cleared, and we could not be more proud. This past month, eight of the team members completed IMAS Level 3 training in Cambodia. This makes our EOD technicians among the most qualified in Southeast Asia and able to train our own teams and others. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and for making Vietnam a safer place to live for all!

Travel with PeaceTrees Vietnam

This first quarter was a busy one for PeaceTrees, with two Citizen Diplomacy trips, as well as a visit to Quang Tri by the Kirchoff Group Adventures team. We are thrilled to share our work with travelers first hand, including experiencing a UXO detonation, visiting black pepper farmers, meeting with our local government partners, planting trees, and much more!

There are a few spaces available on a July trip, led and organized by Christoph Giebel, Associate Professor at University of Washington Jackson School of International Studies. For more information about this trip or others, please contact us at 206-441-6136 or rebecca@peacetreesvietnam.org.
Get Ready for GiveBIG 2017!

PeaceTrees Vietnam will be participating in The Seattle Foundation’s annual 24-hour online giving event, GiveBIG, on May 10th. The theme of this year’s GiveBIG is “Now. More than ever.” and it could not be more appropriate. The Seattle Foundation is not awarding additional funding from a stretch pool this year so now, more than ever, we need your help to make this giving day a success! Stay tuned for GiveBIG updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages and get ready to “GiveBIG” for PeaceTrees on May 10th!
