Indicators of wellbeing vs. perception of wellbeing
According to the World Bank's measure, Pakistan reduced poverty from 35 percent in 2001 to 10 percent in 2014. Other indicators, such as access to sanitation and nutrition, have also improved. But over 80 percent of Pakistanis report that their wellbeing has either stagnated or gotten worse. Ghazala Mansuri, a lead economist at the World Bank and a CDPR fellow, explains why this is the case.
