A 6 year study of private and public education marketplaces
Although Pakistan has increased funding for public schools, outcomes remain unsatisfactory. This helps explain Pakistan's rising market for low-cost private schools, in which 40 percent of primary school-age children are enrolled. With the collaboration of researchers associated with CDPR, the Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) and the Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS), Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) is beginning a comprehensive, six-year study on Pakistan's market for both public and private education to inform policies for sustainable improvements in learning. It will investigate a variety of factors such as teacher quality, information shortages, financial constraints of schools and educational support services.
