What Pakistani firms need to increase productivity
Why are discrepancies in productivity - key component of economic growth - so large between different countries? One important explanation is managerial practices within firms. A study from the International Growth Centre compared Pakistani firms to American firms and found that the former adopt 20 percent fewer structured management practices, which are important for increasing productivity. The study identifies what these practices are, what kinds of firms in Pakistan already adopt them and what its findings imply for policymaking.
