TRS Business Meeting Notes
Triangle Recorder Society Business Meeting
January 21, 2018
The group held a business meeting during the January 21, 2018 play session. Prior to the meeting Jan Jenkins (president) requested questions or comments from members who could not attend. Judy Fox requested that we discuss Durham meeting locations. Since the main library will be closed for the next two years, obtaining meeting spaces in Durham has been difficult. Judy indicated she had received information from one member who would check with his church about hosting TRS. Members were asked to let Judy know if they had any suggestions.
Jan Jenkins noted the TRS workshop is scheduled for March 24. The theme this year is "North Sea Odyssey." The format is the same as usual with two small classes in the morning and two also in the afternoon, followed by a group finale. Jennifer Streeter (music director) has selected "Fantasia on a Shape Note Hymn" as one of the finale pieces, as recommended by ARS for "Play the Recorder Month."
The special guest faculty this year is Chris Rua. The workshop fee is $90 for members and $100 for non-members. A $10 discount is available for registrations received by March 12. All the class options and the registration form are now on the TRS web site and the recent newsletter contained links.
Jan announced this is her fifth year as president of TRS. And although she has loved being president, she believes it's time for her to let someone else lead the group. She will continue to serve the remainder of this year. She noted the position mostly requires listening to members, conducting and writing up of meeting minutes and occasionally sending out a survey. As a side note, she felt Dana's position as webmaster/newsletter publisher was probably the most demanding position within the organization, with the possible exception of the music director. Dana deserves much thanks.
