Meeting the legal needs of homeless people

People who are homeless often have a range of complex legal and non-legal problems that if not addressed, can worsen their chances of escaping homelessness.

The National Partnership Agreement on Legal Assistance Services recognises 'people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness' as a priority group. Data on homelessness has a vital role to play in planning legal assistance services to meet the needs of homeless people.

2018 Collaborative Planning Resource update

The Foundation has recently updated the 2018 Collaborative Planning Resource to include data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics “Estimating Homelessness” data release in March 2018. To see data, go to
