Mend It May is in full swing!
Life here at Make Do and Mend HQ has been taken over by all things mending for the month of May, as I've officially declared it Mend It May!
I've just sent out a newsletter to everyone who has signed the Mend It May pledge, with all the latest goings on for Mend It May. If you want to see it, you can find it here, and if you want to make sure you get the rest of the Mend It May news, you can "take the pledge" here!
There's been very little time for anything else, but I do have a couple of bits of news:
I was approached by Good with Money, a relatively new site that helps us find not only the best deals in terms of financial returns on our money, but also the best deals for people and the planet too, to see if I would be the first interviewee for their Little Stars series. It was really interesting making myself stop and think about our money, where it was, and whether that aligned with our values as a family. You can read my answers here.
I was super excited to be nominated by WWF to attend the Queen's 90th Birthday Party celebrations at Windsor Castle this weekend.
I've known for a few weeks, and have been bursting to tell everyone, but managed to keep it quiet until now.
I'll be blogging about it after the weekend, so I can let you know how it went. My main concern at the moment is what to wear! It's a big grandstand display thing, so is outdoors and doesn't start until 8.45pm. I'm worried I'm going to be really cold, but not sure that my tired old Puffa jacket will pass muster with the Queen...
Anyway, here's a shameless plug to promote Mend It May, and a quick reminder of all the ways you can join in:
- Sign the pledge
- Join the Mend It May Facebook group if you haven't already. We're at nearly 300 members, and it is so inpisring and encouraging to see all the mends that people are posting everyday, and also how genuinely lovely and encouraging the mending community is. It's a great place to come if you are stuck with any tricky mends-between us we can usually work out how to fix most things!
- Post your pictures on Instagram and join in with the photo prompt/join in thingy. I've surprised myself by remembering to post the prompt for each day so far! I've been sharing my favourites from each day.
This one was my favourite from the "Failed It" prompt, because it actually made me laugh out loud, and I think we can all relate...
- Check out the What's On Guide - do take a look and see if there are any mending meet ups happening near you. This weekend alone there are no fewer than SEVEN events on!
- Spread the word! Use the #menditmay hashtag on social media, and tell all your friends!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
