Mental Health First Aid workshops: June 2021

In response to COVID-19, Kingston Council is organising a second round of Mental Health First Aid Workshops for faith and community leaders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Mental Health First Aid Program is designed to educate community leaders in mental health and to assist them to understand barriers to help-seeking, including cultural or language barriers. The program is delivered in a culturally sensitive way and is completely free.

 New anti-racism program funded by the Victorian Government

The Local Anti-Racism Initiatives Grants Program 2021 provides funding to community organisations to deliver activities and initiatives that empower local communities to tackle racism. Grants of up to $500,000 are available to support local anti-racism and community harmony efforts.

Funding will be offered in two streams and the activities must be delivered between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022. Applications close Friday 16 April. See the guidelines for more information.

Translated resources include: vaccine consent forms, vaccine animations and posters, easy-read information, women's health, children's health, and parenting.

More Support For COVIDSafe Multicultural Festivals And Events

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence announced grants of up to $50,000 through the Multicultural Festivals and Events Program to help local multicultural and multifaith communities to celebrate, share and preserve their culture and traditions through COVIDSafe events – both face-to-face and digital.

The program recognises the important role community connection and celebrations play in all communities, and enables Victorians to celebrate the diversity and multiculturalism that makes us strong.

Funding will support events held between 1 July and 31 December 2021. Applications close Wednesday 21 April.
