Legislature to Reconvene
The Legislative Coordinating Council (LCC) met last week and determined the legislature would indeed convene for a Sine Die (no further day) session on May 21.

Typically, this is a ceremonial day and no actual work is conducted other than formally closing the legislative session for the year, which also begins the fundraising cycle for candidates. However, as with everything this year, this Sine Die will be different as some of my colleagues seek to limit Governor Kelly's authority to proceed through pragmatic steps to reopen the state.

I plan to participate in next week's legislative session, fully masked and sanitized!

Phase 1.5
In Thursday's COVID press conference, Governor Kelly announced a pause between Phases 1 and 2, with the insertion of Phase 1.5.

Phase 1.5 involves two key changes:
  • The original plan would allow groups up to 30 people to begin meeting as of Monday, May 18. The new phase continues the maximum at 10 people.
  • Personal services (hair, nails, etc.) may open by appointment only.
